It was terrifying to find out that the turn in day for this year’s petitions has been bumped forward to July 29! This is “plenty of time” IF we make a clear plan and implement it every day.
WE CAN DO IT! THIS IS OUR TIME!
WE BE JEDI, THERE IS NO TRY!
2014 will become the year when Americans and Michiganders see that cannabis prohibition will soon fall. In Michigan we are fighters who will play our significant role. We have accomplished medical marijuana, next we will get dispensaries and medibles approved, then statewide decriminalization, then legalization.
After we won five local victories we got the funding for medical marijuana in 2008. Since then we have won nine more, with no losses. All but the Grand Rapids victory were organized or facilitated by Tim Beck and Chuck Ream of the Safer Michigan Coalition (SMC). Campaigns are run by the local leaders, (and some campaigns are helped out in a big way by Jamie Lowell of Third Coast.)
SMC is now a state registered PAC, and had a fundraiser where we raised over $4000 from very dedicated activists. Unfortunately we have already paid more than $6000 in legal bills, just to make city officials obey the law. We need money and that ain’t funny. All of our progress rests on our local victories. We don’t beg or lobby or wait. We work with the election law and trust voters to act like Americans.
If we win more than a dozen local victories in Michigan this year we will play a real role in ending cannabis prohibition worldwide. We will drive history forward, (and be in a good position to attract funding for legalization in 2016).
BECAUSE OF THE DETERMINATION AND HEROISM OF LOCAL LEADERS we currently have 18 Michigan cities circulating petitions, mostly for the legalization of one ounce, by adults, on private property. This is unprecedented in any state in the USA. We will give the patriotic voters in these cities the chance to reaffirm the most fundamental American value – freedom - by reforming our grotesquely anti-American cannabis laws.
These cities are (with population) Saginaw - 50,790, East Lansing - 48,579, Port Huron - 30,184, Oak Park - 29,319, Mt. Pleasant - 26,016, Hazel Park - 16,422, Lapeer - 8,841, Utica - 4,757, Clare - 3,118, Harrison - 2114, Frankfort - 1286, and Onaway – 880. Our latest additions are: Portage - 46,292, Berkley - 14,070, Huntington Woods - 6,234, Pleasant Ridge - 2,526, Grosse Pointe Park -11,555 and Montrose – 1657.
Victory or defeat all hinges on the signature gatherers; if we reach the ballot we win. The average voter no longer wants to waste money or their neighbor’s lives to feed cannabis prohibition. Public safety is enhanced when law enforcement dollars are spent solving or preventing crimes that have victims.
To be on the ballot on Nov. 4 we need the valid signatures of 5% of the registered voters in each town. The greatest hero of our movement is the person who will approach a stranger with petition in hand and get their signature. It takes guts. Signatures are the currency of our freedom. If you can’t petition then please send money! We will spend that money to win them all!
We hope that a Tsunami of local wins on November 4 will break the logjam in the legislature for our statewide decriminalization bill (HB 4623).

JULY 29 IS THE END OF THE HEROIC EFFORT TO GET PETITION SIGNATURES IN 18 MICHIGAN CITIES. IT’S THE BEGINNING OF OUR SPRINT TO THE FINISH LINE, WHERE PLANTS ARE LEGAL AND AMERICAN VALUES ARE RESPECTED!
